The LBBA has two key events each year; a solo, duet and quartet competition in the spring, followed by an open full brass band competition each November.

Please follow the links for details of each of our competition

Our Spring Festival competition is open any brass or percussion player from any brass band or organisation. We offer sections for different age groups (the youngest section usually being 10 years and under) and there is an opportunity for everyone to compete of all ages and abilities. Prizes for Slow Melody, Air and Variations, Duets, Quartets are all up for grabs, with Junior sections for hymn tune quartets, and duets alike. From 2017 this competition will also include the presentation of the Harry Bray memorial trophy for the overall Junior Champion who has the highest overall scores across Slow Melody, Air Varie and Sight Reading competitions.

Our November Brass Band contest known by most people as “The Leicester Contest” is an established event that has in recent years attracted over 70 bands competing. The usual sections (Championship to Fourth) are available, but with the addition of an Unregistered section, which is available to bands who are members of our association. Your band does not need to be from Leicestershire to Join, and we would be delighted if any other bands wished to join us.

Occasionally the LBBA puts on other events for its members, and have in the past included Fundraising training and the occasional quiz. We would be keen to hear of any other events our members would like us to consider running.

We hope to see you at some of our events soon!
